Seward Highway is only one example of our many highway tours.
As you can see from the example below this is a well documented highway and makes
your trip planning so much easier. This is only a portion of the complete Seward Highway
Tour. Other tours include Funny River Road, Girdwood, Hope, KBeach Road, Portage,
Seward, Skilak Loop Road, and Spur Highway.

Seward Highway Tour
Destination: Kenai Peninsula, Alaska

Mile 60.8 is the Canyon Creek rest areas, one on each side of
the road. A more picturesque rest area would be hard to find.

After you cross the curved bridge over Canyon Creek you must
decide whether to turn to the right and visit the community of
Hope or continue on the Seward Highway.
At this point you are still in Turnagain Pass so use caution when
passing and utilize the 3 lane roads whenever possible.
Between mile 62 and 69.5 are several pull offs on the left.

***There is a hill with a passing lane. Slower traffic should use
the right lane.

At mile 69.8 you will come to the pull off at Upper Summit Lake.
Another pull off is at the end of the lake.

Shortly after this, at mile 71.4, is the turn off on the left to
Tenderfoot campground, situated behind Summit Lake. Just
beyond the turn off is Summit Lake Lodge, open during the
summer months only. This is a picturesque lodge with rooms for
rent and an excellent restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere
and good scenery. There is also a gift shop available that
serves espresso and ice cream dishes. Just beyond the gift shop
is Summit Lake. This is a popular lake to fly into with private
aircraft. If you do fly in be aware of the submerged rocks near
the north shore of the lake within 50' of the shoreline.
